Our care and commitment goes well beyond designing energy-efficient lighting. We support many efforts to enhance the world we live in, and with each step we take we move forward in our journey to reduce our environmental footprint and improve our social impact.
In a disposable world, where things aren’t made to last, Boyd’s fixtures are an anomaly. Our fixtures are inheritable… designed and built to last a lifetime or more. We were one of the first lighting manufacturers to offer energy-efficient fluorescent lighting in high-end decorative fixtures, and are again ahead of the curve by offering products using LEDs. We are committed to seeking out the latest energy-efficient technology and eco-friendly materials.
Boyd continually looks for ways to manage our ecological footprint. One of the ways we do this is by recycling. We recycle everything from plastic bottles to scrap metal; use shipping boxes made of recycled content and packing materials that are biodegradable; and print our literature on recycled, FSC-certified paper.
The Boyd team consistently gives of our time and resources to worthwhile, non-profit activities. Our staff volunteers quarterly at our local San Francisco Food Bank, and hold food drives during the holidays. Each year we coordinate a blood drive, involving other businesses in our neighborhood in the giving. We also provide our products for use in various homeless shelters, group homes and community centers; while other Boyd efforts benefit local youth programs in sports, fitness and the arts.
We regularly contribute to diverse charities such as: DIFFA (Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS), Susan G. Komen for the Cure® (breast cancer), Gilead House (women’s re-entry program), and GAIA (Global AIDS Interfaith Alliance). We also offer in-kind support such as the use of our facility and staff expertise for fundraising events.
