Orlando Diaz-Azcuy, a furniture and interior designer now located in New York after a long residence in San Francisco. Mr. Diaz-Azcuy is known for his crisply defined modernist interior architecture, classically inspired furniture and pared-down urbane decor spiked with high-voltage color. He founded his own company, Orlando Diaz-Azcuy Designs, in San Francisco in 1987, after working for 12 years as a design principal for Gensler. His firm has completed designs for the spa at Hong Kong s Peninsula Hotel, the Intermezzo lounge at the San Francisco Opera house, and a Los Angeles cancer center, among other projects.

Diaz-Azcuy studied architecture at Catholic University in Washington, DC, holds a master's degree in landscape architecture, and has degrees in city and regional planning from UC Berkeley.
