In 1985, Timothy Macdonald established Timothy Macdonald Incorporated, and interior design firm in New York City. The work reflects Mr. Macdonald’s design experience in an eclectic diversity of styles. He and his associates are dedicated to exploring a variety of design modes while creating work of consistent expertise and quality. Thus, each project documents the firm’s awareness of the furniture, fabrics, architectural details and references appropriate to a specific period and site.
The interior design philosophy of the firm of Timothy Macdonald does not reflect a specific or singular point of view. The firm does not produce a Macdonald look but rather provides an approach which best serves the client and architect and fulfills the firm’s dedication to excellence. Macdonald’s greatest quality is his ability to perceive the underlying character of the site, to listen to the clients’ spoken requests, to identify their unverbalized hopes and wishes, and to create, in a timely and consistent fashion, traditional, contemporary and modern designs of quality and presence.
