Mr. Heefner believes design solutions are unique to each situation; therefore, he never uses the same solution twice. Mr. Heefner’s design approach is interdisciplinary; he supports the idea that interior design, architecture, and interior architecture have no distinct lines of separation. Lighting incorporates all three elements of design.

This inclusive approach to the industry has encouraged Heefner’s eclectic contributions to the community. His career began by designing the cockpits of fighter pilot. He has worked as an interior designer and architect. Now included in his repertoire is collaborative design in lighting fixtures and spaces.

Mr. Heefner is a graduate of Kansas City Art Institute, earning his B.F.A. in Industrial Design. While his education is industrial, he has done professional work in both commercial and hospitality arenas.
