Recess: Lunchtime Dancing in SF

There are so many reasons to love San Francisco… the year round temperate weather, the great restaurants, the fact that you can get practically anywhere by walking or public transportation… the list goes on and on.  As someone who lives in SF – I have to say that one of the absolute best things about this city is all of the free things to do that will keep you entertained without spending a dime.  It’s an expensive place – so it’s nice to get a break every now and then.

Today was one of those days when something ridiculously fun (and free!) came onto our radar… RECESS!  Remember when you were in school and you got to go outside and play after lunch?  That’s what I’m talking about… minus the kickball and four square.  This recess (inspired by lunchbeat) is a 2 hour lunchtime dance party with live DJ’s and sandwiches thrown into the mix.  Dancing during lunch?!  Yes please!

A small group of us here at Boyd headed out at lunch today to experience the very first RECESS here in San Francisco.  Luckily it was only two blocks away from our office at Monarch on 6th & Mission – so we were able to spend some serious time dancing.  In fact, we spent so much time dancing that all the sandwiches were gone before we could get to them.

It was a pretty fantastic experience… people of all walks of life (many dressed like they came straight from a board meeting) coming together to blow off some steam.  It was a very lighthearted, happy vibe – very kumbaya (only with DJs and a disco ball).  It was so much fun we didn’t want to leave… but our computers called to us like a siren’s song…

If you ever get a chance to go to one of these events – just do it!
